Read this story about animals that decide to have a race.

The Amazing Race

Today, all the animals decide to have a race. The rabbit says, “I can hop fast!” The bird says, “I can fly high!” The fish says, “I can swim quickly!”

The race starts. The rabbit can hop quickly. Hop, hop, hop! He is very fast on the ground. The bird can fly up. Flap, flap, flap! She is in the sky. The fish can swim fast. Splash, splash, splash! He is like a flash.

But then, something funny happens. The rabbit can see a carrot and stops. The bird can see a worm and goes down. The fish can see a shiny stone and stops.

The turtle, who is slow, can keep going. Step by step, he moves. He does not stop.

In the end, the turtle can finish first. All the animals can cheer.

“Slow and steady can win!” the turtle says.

The other animals can smile and say, “You are right, turtle!”

Everyone can learn a lesson today. Being fast can be good, but sometimes, slow and steady can be better.
