Greetings from Washington, D.C

Dear Emily,

Hello! Greetings from Washington, D.C.!

I am having so much fun here this summer. Because we are from a small town in Oklahoma, it is amazing to be in such a big city! DC is my new favorite place, and after my summer job is over, I want to come back.

My apartment is in a neighborhood called Foggy Bottom — what a funny name! I work a few blocks away in a beautiful neighborhood called Georgetown. There is a college in this neighborhood called Georgetown University.  Georgetown has so many cute stores, cafés, and bookshops. The people here are so nice, and there are many fun things to do on the weekends, like go to bars, cinemas, and museums.

Sometimes we go to Maryland, which is outside of DC. Some of the houses in Maryland are almost as big as castles! The garages are bigger than my entire house back in Oklahoma!

Please visit.  I miss you!

Your friend,

Rachel
