Learn how to use the Passive Voice in the Past in English

There are two voices in English, active voice and passive voice. Active voice means the subject of the sentence is responsible for the action.

Active voice example: I built the house.

Passive voice means the subject of the sentence is not the actor, but the receiver of the action.

Passive voice example: The house was built (by me).
