Traveling by plane has not been an easy thing to do in 2020. Even though airports and borders are opening up, a lot of people still feel safer traveling by car. If you are planning on taking a road trip, maybe in the next few months or when things get better, it is important to know more about your car, right?<\/span> Today we will go over different types of car and parts of a car in English <\/strong>as well as some vocabulary you may need in case you have a car emergency. Types of cars in English<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Imagine yourself walking into a car rental store and hearing the question: what type of car are you looking for? Would you be able to answer it without hesitation?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the most common cars you will find for rental is a sedan<\/strong>. A sedan is a four-door car with a separate trunk for luggage. They can be small, compacts, mid-size, and full-size. A popular sedan car is the Toyota Corolla. Another popular type of car is a hatchback<\/strong>. This one is different from a sedan because one can access its cargo area from the inside. Common hatchbacks are the Volkswagen Golf and the Kia Rio.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, moving on to bigger cars we have the station wagon<\/strong>, the SUV<\/strong>, the minivan<\/strong>, and the pickup truck<\/strong>. The station wagons are similar to sedans, but they have a hatch door instead of a trunk in the back. SUVs (sport-utility vehicles) <\/a>are usually taller than sedans and they come in larger sizes. Some of the biggest ones have three rows of seats. Minivans are family cars. Even though we call them \u2018mini\u2019, they are pretty big. They usually have sliding doors, a large cargo area, and can carry about 8 to 9 people. The pickup truck has a passenger area and an open cargo bed in the rear.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

More types of car<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

These are the most common cars people own and if you ever need to rent a car while traveling, they are probably the ones you may get. However, there are other types of car that we should mention. The first is a convertible<\/strong>. Convertibles have flexible roofs that can retract and fold away. Another one is what we call a sports car<\/strong>. These are low to the ground and carry only two people. They are the coolest cars around. Porsche and Ferrari are famous for their expensive and spaceship-like sport cars.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to transmission, there are two types: manual transmission and automatic transmission<\/strong> cars. Manual cars have a stick shift while automatic don\u2019t.
